Cairngorms Work Party, Tomintoul

Volunteers out on the Estate

The Mountains and the People will be working with staff from Glenlivet to remove and rebuild two small bridges on the Estate. We will be removing the old bridges, digging out and preparing the foundations and constructing the new timber bridges. The day will be moderate level; limited walking required but there will be lots of manual handling involved.

You will need to bring appropriate clothing including waterproofs and sturdy toe protecting footwear. We recommend volunteers wear wellington boots as we will be working in or near shallow water. You will also need plenty of layers, hat etc, suitable for winter weather.

You will also need lunch, snacks and a drink. We have a supply of work gloves for volunteers and steel toe capped wellington boots which volunteers can borrow. Toilet facilities are available at the Glenlivet Estate Office in Tomintoul but please be aware that there may not be toilet facilities where we are working.

The meeting place is the Glenlivet Estate Office in Tomintoul at 10am. Transport is available from Aboyne and Ballater.
